Best in class Geotechnical and Geologic Investigation Services

  • Construction worker installing or repairing underground piping or conduit on a dirt and gravel surface.

    Geology

We provide a comprehensive range of geologic and geotechnical services to support project planning, permitting, and development. Our services include site-specific field reconnaissance and geologic mapping to document existing conditions, identify potential geologic hazards, and evaluate slope stability. We perform landslide assessments, fault investigation studies, and fault trenching where required, as well as geophysical surveys to better understand subsurface conditions. Our team prepares evaluations in support of state, county, and local hazard regulations, including slope and hillside ordinances and jurisdiction-specific hazard review requirements throughout the region. In addition, we review historical aerial photographs and existing building department records to evaluate site history, past development, and prior geotechnical information.

We also conduct preliminary and feasibility-level studies to assess geologic constraints early in the planning process, helping clients understand risk and development options before design advances. Together, these services allow us to deliver well-documented evaluations that support your project through design, permitting, and construction.

    Geotechnical Investigation

We provide geotechnical investigations and engineering analyses to support a wide range of foundation and earthwork conditions. Our work includes evaluations for residential, mixed-use, and mid- to high-rise foundations, as well as specialty foundation systems for industrial, infrastructure, and energy-related projects. We assess basement excavations, tieback and earth anchor systems, swimming pool foundations and backfill, and site grading to ensure compatibility with subsurface conditions. These investigations are supported by detailed analyses of soil strength, bearing capacity, and anticipated performance under both static and seismic loading.

Our services also include liquefaction evaluations, slope stability and settlement analyses, groundwater studies and mitigation recommendations, and development of seismic design parameters for use by the design team. We prepare pavement section recommendations, grading criteria, and floor level surveys, and we support value engineering efforts by identifying cost-effective geotechnical solutions without compromising performance or safety. When needed, we also provide technical support for dispute resolution and litigation, offering clear geotechnical opinions based on thorough investigation and analysis.

  • A detailed site plan showing property lines, existing structures, and topographical features. There are four marked survey points labeled EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, and EB-4, with a red line connecting EB-1 to EB-4 and extending to point A'. The plan includes measurements, utility lines, and landscape features around a residential area with a stucco house, fencing, driveway, and surrounding landscape elements.

    Geotechnical Reports

Our geotechnical reports (also known as soil reports) are developed to serve as practical, design-ready documents for architects as well as civil and structural engineers. Each report is based on site-specific field exploration and analysis, with clear descriptions of subsurface conditions and engineering parameters that can be directly incorporated into foundation, grading, drainage, and structural design. We focus on clarity, consistency, and constructability so that design teams can confidently translate our recommendations into plans that are appropriate for the unique conditions of each site.

For contractors, our reports provide clear guidance on safe and effective construction practices tailored to the project site. We outline appropriate excavation methods, shoring and temporary support considerations, earthwork procedures, and quality control measures to help minimize risk during construction. By addressing both design intent and field implementation, our reports help align the entire project team, reduce uncertainty, and support safe, efficient construction from start to finish.
